Improve Your Game With Golf Lessons

Friday, December 5th, 2008

There comes a point when you just know you golf game has stopped improving through just playing and you know you need to get some golf instruction. Some people see this as weakness and they insist they would never ask for help, but in golf, it is
almost a necessity. Most often we ask friends and fellow players for advice but they can give us the wrong answers even though they mean well.
What we really need is to take a lesson or two and get advice from someone who really knows the game of golf. You might think that a Pro would critique harshly, but they are usually friendly, honest, and very helpful. Lessons at your local course may not be as expensive as you might think and they are well worth it because your game will improve rapidly. You will enjoy your game more and find yourself less frustrated.

It is very important that you are honest about your game, both with yourself and the Pro. They will ask you what you which areas of your play you feel you need help either driving, chipping, putting or whatever you feel you need help with. You should listen carefully and follow any instructions and advice given. You may have doubts if the Pro tells you that you need to change your stance, alter your grip
or change the way you swing but the Pro has a lot of experience and knows best.

If you have any questions just ask them. You may be concerned the question seems stupid but they want you to fully understand what they are trying to teach so just ask anything that is bothering you. If you don’t quite get what they are telling you say that you’re not getting it. You should never walk away from a lesson with unanswered questions.

You might concentrate on just one aspect of the game during a lesson, or cover several different areas. So if you start with a lesson on driving, getting the right grip or the right stance and follow-through in one lesson you can then practice it when you play a round of golf. The following lesson you might work on your short game, putting or some other aspect of the game.

When you’ve already invested in all the equipment it just makes good sense to learn how to use it all to the best of your abilities.
