Street Golf Shoes – 2011 Review
Saturday, September 17th, 2011You’d think that there was nothing new under the sun when it comes to golf shoes but you’d be wrong! With the introduction of Ecco’s uber-cool new Street Golf Shoes a whole new style was invented. Ecco were first to market but they were closely followed by Footjoy, and now Adidas after some of the action too with their new Ashworth range. But which are best. As I said, Ecco were first when Fred Couples wore them at the 2010 Augusta Masters but Footjoy know how to makes shoes and the new Adidas models look very sleek too.
Ecco Street Golf Shoes should really be credited with this new cool look. But was it a marketing fluke! Fred Couples wore ECCO’s Street GOlf Shoes at last years Augusta Masters and created a new look overnight. The marketing guys at Ecco couldn’t believe their luck when Freddie’s shoes were the most reported fashion item during and after the tournament. Needless to say sales soared. Since then sales have gone through the roof and other brands have been frantically scrambling to come out with similar shoes to capitalise on the demand. Available now in the UK.
Footjoy Street Golf Shoes – I’ve just been browsing an American Golf Retailer and noticed that Footjoy has just launched a Street Golf Shoe for 2011! They are second to market so only time will tell how successful they are with it. That said though, Footjoy is the No’1 brand for golf shoes and has a huge and loyal following. Like the Ecco Streets, Footjoy Street Golf Shoes are designed to be worn both on and off the golf course. The hybrid spikeless sole means that they can be worn just like a training shoe. Should be available in the UK this summer 2011..
Adidas Ashworth Golf Shoes are the latest addition to the street golf shoe market. No sport shoe manufacturer, with the exception of possibly Nike, has a back catalogue of cool looking street shoes like Adidas. It’s a very simple design that just works! They are available in leather and suede and they look very cool indeed. I’m sure they’re going to have much broader appeal than the Ecco Streets as they look more youthful and sporty.
